Job work and tolling software for processing units
When customers bring their own material and you charge for the work, the material is theirs, the labour charge is yours, and the two must never get mixed. The Job Work (Tolling) add-on keeps them apart.
Party material accounts
Every kg or metre a party sends is recorded against them and tracked against gate passes, separate from your own stock.
Conversion recipes
Set how much of their raw material goes into one finished piece or one kg of output.
Dispatch by weight or pieces
Send finished goods back by pieces or by weight, and bill per piece or per kg using each party's rate card.
Balance guardrails
A party can never take out more material than they brought in. The system stops it.
Outward job work too
Send your own material to contractors and reconcile what comes back.
Why job work breaks ordinary stock software
A dyeing unit, a stitching unit, a rice husking mill or a plastic recycling unit often does most of its work on material that belongs to someone else. The party sends 2,000 metres of fabric or 5,000 kg of paddy. You process it and send it back, and you bill only for the work. Ordinary inventory software has no place for this. Enter the fabric as your stock and your stock value is wrong. Leave it out and you have no record of what the party gave you.
On paper, it lives in a gate pass book and a dispatch register. When a party says, 'I sent you 2,000 metres, you returned shirts for only 1,800', the owner has to rebuild the account from slips. In a busy month, nobody is sure how much of each party's material is still on the floor.
How the Job Work add-on handles it
- Material in: the party's material is received into their own material account, against a gate pass.
- Conversion recipe: you define how their raw material turns into finished output, for example 1.6 metres of fabric per shirt.
- Dispatch: finished goods go back by pieces or by weight. The material used comes off the party's account.
- Billing: the work is billed per piece or per kg, at the rate on that party's rate card.
- Guardrails: the party's balance can never go below zero, so nobody takes out more than they brought.
- Outward job work: when you send your own material to a contractor, the same tracking works in reverse.
A worked example: a stitching unit
A stitching unit in Faisalabad receives 2,000 metres of fabric from a garment party. The conversion recipe says 1.6 metres per shirt, and the party's rate card says Rs 150 per piece.
| Step | Figure |
|---|---|
| Fabric received from party | 2,000 metres |
| Shirts dispatched | 1,200 pieces |
| Fabric used, 1,200 × 1.6 metres | 1,920 metres |
| Party's fabric still with the unit | 80 metres |
| Stitching bill, 1,200 × Rs 150 | Rs 180,000 |
When the party asks for his balance, the answer is on screen: 80 metres of his fabric is still with you, and the bill is Rs 180,000. If someone tries to dispatch another 100 shirts, which would need 160 metres, Taajir stops it, because only 80 metres are left in his account. Per-kg work runs the same way. A recycling unit that processes 2,500 kg for a party at Rs 35 a kg bills Rs 87,500.
The rest of the business stays in one place
Many processing units also make and sell their own goods. With Taajir, the job work, your own stock, sales, purchases and the party's khata all sit in one app. If you also make goods from your own raw material, the Manufacturing add-on adds recipes, production orders and costing. Both can run together.
What it costs
Job Work (Tolling) is an add-on on either Taajir plan: Rs 2,000 a month, or Rs 11,000 for the year with a yearly plan. A unit on Standard yearly pays Rs 36,000 + Rs 11,000 = Rs 47,000 for the year. On monthly billing it is Rs 4,000 + Rs 2,000 = Rs 6,000 a month. A unit that also takes Manufacturing on a yearly plan pays Rs 36,000 + Rs 11,000 + Rs 11,000 = Rs 58,000 a year. No per-user charge, so the gate clerk and the dispatch supervisor each get a login.

Questions people ask
Does the party's material show up as my stock?
No. It sits in that party's material account, separate from your own stock, so your stock value stays correct.
Can I bill per kg as well as per piece?
Yes. Dispatch by weight or pieces and bill per piece or per kg, with a separate rate card for each party.
What stops a party taking more than they gave?
Balance guardrails. Taajir will not let a dispatch use more material than the party has in their account.
We also send material out to contractors. Is that covered?
Yes. Outward job work tracks your material sent to contractors and reconciles what comes back.
How much does the Job Work add-on cost?
Rs 2,000 a month, or Rs 11,000 a year with a yearly plan. It works on both Standard and Business.
